One of the things that Bundaberg Queensland is most famous for is its Bundaberg Rum.  In the town of Bundaberg Queensland is the place where it is all made, at the Bundaberg Rum Distillery.  If you get a chance you must take a tour of this fantastic distillery to find out how it is really made.  There is also a lot of history behind Bundaberg which you can explore at the Bundaberg and District Historical Museum or the Hinkler House Museum which explores the life of Bert Hinkler.  Situated in the botanical gardens of Bundaberg Queensland makes it all the more interesting to visit. 

Another popular attraction in Bundaberg Queensland is the Mon Repos Beach which is home to the flatback turtle, green turtle, leatherback turtle, as well as the logger turtle.  In fact, there is a turtle rookery here and between the months of November and January you are able to see the turtles nesting.  During January and March there are live births which you can experience first hand.

Bundaberg is considered to be subtropical and temperate with warm summers and cool winters.  In January it can get to be as hot as 30.3 degrees Celsius, and in July it can get as low as 10 degrees Celsius.  In winter there are some inland areas of Bundaberg Queensland that can receive frosts, but for the most part, you will have nothing but sunny warm days.

 Getting Around Bundaberg Queensland

The best way to get around Bundaberg Queensland is by car.  Rental cars are available in Brisbane as well as the regional airport.  There are a few public transportation routes run by Duffy�s buses, but unless you are staying strictly in the city centre of Bundaberg Queensland you should consider hiring a car.  There are a few backpacker hostels that run shuttle minibuses for seasonal workers to local farms in case you want to hitch a ride.  

How to Get to Bundaberg Queensland


There are numerous ways to get to Bundaberg Queensland.  You can arrive at the Bundaberg Regional Airport which is located at the western entrance to the city which is only a short seven kilometre trip from the city centre of Queensland.  There are flights arriving from both Brisbane and Lady Elliot Island.  Another option would be the Queensland Rail passenger trains which include the Tilt Train.  From Brisbane it is about a four and a half hour trip.  There are also many long distance bus services that will take you to Bundaberg Queensland.
