What to do in Taree
The Manning River is the recreational highlight of Taree with it's many watersport events throughout the year including the F1 Superboat Series, Easter powerboat spectacular, rowing championships, sailing marathons and water skiing. A Manning River cruise is the ideal way to navigate the area's major waterway while taking in the beautiful pastoral landscape at its banks.
On your visit to Taree and Manning Valley be sure to visit the Ellenborough Falls on Tourist Drive 8 - the second highest single drop falls in the Southern Hemisphere. A scenic drive through and stop over at the Coorabakh and the Tapin Tops National Park will leave you breathless. Discover natural wonders in Wingham Brush in the historic town of Wingham - where an elevated boardwalk will take you past 100 year old Moreton Bay Fig Trees and the State's only maternity site for the grey headed flying fox. You'll want to head up to Crowdy Head Lighthouse for spectacular ocean panoramas and whale-watching (May-November) or get right into the lifestyle with some fishing or surfing at reknowned spots - Old Bar and Old Wallabi Point, 15km south-east of Taree.

The Wingham Show will be held from Sat 21 Mar - Mon 23 Mar 2009. The idea of this weekend show is to allow students to get some pointers on cattle parading, judging and preparation.Activities and information include ring events, riding and hack classes, show jumping, dairy, cattle, sheep, goats, poultry, wood chopping, art, handcrafts, and machinery.
The Old Bar Beach Festival will be held from Sat 3 Oct - Mon 5 Oct 2009.The streets of Old Bar will be abuzz with Kombis Old Cars and people celebrating heritage and beach culture including a world record attempt for the most VW Kombis and Transporters in the one place. Two fun filled days of surfside markets and psychic fair provide an amazing selection of hand crafted products and wares. Tuck in and enjoy gourmet products featuring the best produce from this coastal wonderland and its rich farming hinterland or you might want to line up for the Fosters Beer and Wine Tasting. Other attractions over the weekend are The Beach Fun Run, Rugby Tens Competition, Skateboard Jam and Vintage Veteran and Classic Cars.
Wingham Campdraft and Rodeo is back in 2009 when cowboys get a change to compete in one more rodeo for the year. You will get to experience the thrill and excitement in watching one of the many rodeo events that test competitors in every way including bullriding, bareback riding, rope and tie, team roping and ladies barrel race.
